In the recently concluded seed financing round, Voltiris secured CHF 4.8 million. Together with 3M Ventures, the venture capital unit of the US group 3M, we led this financing round. Other co-investors include the French ClimateTech VC Satgana and various family offices from the agricultural sector.

Who is Voltiris?
Voltiris is an EPFL spin-off based in Lausanne. The company has developed the world's first solar modules that are especially suitable for greenhouses with light-sensitive plants. A large reflector allows the light required for photosynthesis to pass through to the plants, while reflecting the other wavelengths into a conventional solar module for energy generation. This allows the energy-intensive greenhouse areas to be operated cost-efficiently, environmentally friendly and independently of the power grid.
Voltiris has already successfully completed 12 commercial pilot projects with its proprietary spectral filter technology in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and France and has established partnerships with the energy suppliers Elektra Baselland and Romande Energie.

The new funds will enable Voltiris to expand its presence in key agricultural regions and implement major projects that have already been committed. In addition, the financing round accelerates the commercialization of the technology and paves the way for market-leading production costs - not least with industry leader 3M for production.

Voltiris impressively demonstrates how innovative technologies can combine agriculture and energy production. In this CHF 60 billion market, in which the Netherlands alone has over 10,000 hectares of high-tech greenhouses, the company will make a substantial contribution to decarbonization.
